Each grade meets with the SGOS once a term, or as the need arises. The SGCE then advises the teacher on how to act with the learning barriers that the learner experiences, in the best interest of the learner. An intervention programme is being developed for learners with specific learning difficulties. The parents will be informed of the SGOS’s recommendation.
Remedial Lessons
Remedial classes are offered for learners who experience difficulties with schoolwork. The learners can attend individual or group lessons, with learners experiencing the same problems.
The learners attend the lessons during school hours. Parents have to pay for the extra classes.
Speech Therapy
Learners who have been identified with specific speech or language problems may receive speech therapy during school hours. The therapist works closely with teachers and parents. If parents want to use the service, they have to pay for it.
Counsellor
Our school also has a counsellor who can take care of the needs of learners if problems arise. Counseling and therapy include problems with depression, friendship problems, bullying, anger, fear, dealing with divorce from parents and general emotional problems, among others. Written consent is a requirement for learners who are not yet 12 years old.
