The foundation phase currently consists of 15 classes with 3 Afrikaans classes and 2 English classes for each grade. Our class sizes vary between 30 to 32 learners per class. We also have six teaching assistants who are helpful to the teachers in the class.
We follow the National Curriculum and Assessments Statement (NKAV). This curriculum consists of Home Language (Afrikaans), Mathematics, Life Skills, and First Additional Language. Reports are sent home at the end of each quarter except the first quarter. At the end of the first term, the parents are interviewed.
Intermediate Phase: Grade 4 - 6
This phase is the bridge between the foundation phase (Grades 1 – 3) and the Senior Phase (Grades 4 – 7). During this phase, the learner will no longer learn to read, but read to learn.
Thinking skills and the application of knowledge are the focus. In this phase, the learners will also receive specialised attention in specialist subjects.
Subjects: Languages (Afrikaans and English), Mathematics, Science and Technology, Life Skills (Creative Arts, Physical Education and Personal and Social Well-being) and Social Studies (Geography and History). As set out in the DBE CAPS guidelines implemented in 2013. Reports are issued quarterly.
Senior Phase: Grade 7
Our focus is to prepare the learners for high school. In particular, we will encourage the learners to work more independently, to take more responsibility, to focus on time management and to brush up on their study and research skills.
Subjects: Languages (Afrikaans and English), Mathematics, Natural Science, Technology, Economics and Management, Life Skills and Social Studies. As set out in the DBE CAPS guidelines that were implemented in 2014. Reports are issued quarterly.
